Introduction

The doctrine of Boudha was accepted with whole heart and religious methods of cremation and ceremonies after the funeral was thought and helping the people who were poor and unable to carry out the religious procedures and also helping the poor and needy people. The Boudha Arghaun Sadan was established for this cause 37 years ago and it is developed as a religious place. It is located on the North of river Seti from where you could see the Annapurna and the virgin Machhapuchhre Mountain Range and the whole scenery around the place is breath taking and marvelous and very beautiful. The tourists who come to Pokhara visit this place in order to learn and know the traditional methods of Gurung. Apart from the Gurung even other religious and cast take opportunity from this concern for their burial ceremonies. It is a place for whole community. Infect the BAS does not belong to any individual or society or particular caste. It is meant for everyone. Education and health facilities in the Himalaya region and the hilly region it is difficult, so that is why most of those people migrate from the region and they come to Pokhara. That’s why the population in Pokhara is increasing rapidly. Especially the ex-servicemen of the armed forces after retiring they want in the first option is to have a house in Pokhara. In Ramghat area where the first hospital was built then the people from the villages started to come there for medical treatment. Most of the people around the region go for medical treatment on the third stage when they are completely serious few of them who are lucky only get well and return home but most of them during the treatment died on the hospital bed itself.

After the patient is admitted in the hospital only one person is required to look after the patient. It was very difficult for that person because when the patient dies, the hospital authority wants that person to take dead body immediately because of this cause BAS wanted to help the people who normally face this problem and they built a cremation center and established a community known as Boudha Arghaun Sadan. In the funeral ceremonies of the Gurung pachyu, gyabri, aashyon, chhori and jwain are required. In the time of difficulties every Gurung has a feeling in his heart to help the others. After long struggle then the sub metropolitan city panchayat had allotted a piece of land. At first we built two rooms of blocks and tin shelter this is the way how we started our  services.

At this time we have monastery where we carry out worship, butter lamp house, two rooms to keep the dead bodies then we also have a provision to cremate four bodies at one time, and we also have two halls to carry out religious ceremonies after that there is a place where people carry out their fasting (Nyungne) and we have Boudha Education Center and as you know we have these facilities to offer to the people.

Right now we have built and developed many programs people are willing to donate open heartly. Looking at the activities of our community Pokhara sub metropolitan city board decided to allot 10 Ropani of land to BAS. That place has good facility for parking vehicles. The BAS located in 15 Ropani land is recognized by the Govt. of Nepal. In this premises one monastery, one chief Lama and 50 assistant Lamas, management committee of 11 person, Advisor committee and various sub-committees an approx. 1000 life long members are present. The various worship eg. Doma, Ghedum, Hiunapati, Kangyur, Tengyur, Manidhungyur and Nyungni carried out. There are 3 Lamas who are studying in Kathmandu at college level and four Lamas are Pumdi Bhumdi for 3 years 3 months and 3 days (Lasum Dhasum) and one Lama at Pharping in Kathmandu. I am impressed to let yoy know about our facilities.
